MISSION

Nicaragua is considered to be the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and has a population of 6 million with 48% living below the poverty line. Our Mission at Project Nicaragua is to improve the overall health and access to healthcare to the people of Nicaragua. This is accomplished through our three primary goals of Research, Education, and Outreach.

Project Nicaragua’s Statement of Purpose

1. To provide medical relief to El Hospital Antonio Lenin Fonseca and El Centro Nacional de Oftalmologia.

2. To advance the clinical study on barriers to healthcare in Nicaragua.

3. To provide experiences for future leaders in medicine, public health, and public policy committed to improving the healthcare of the globally underserved.

4. To provide unique training experiences to physicians in the United States and in Nicaragua.
