Project Nicaragua is a 501-3 (c) not-for-profit organization that is comprised of Physicians, Medical Students, and Undergraduates. The Board of Advisors includes both physicians in the United States and in Nicaragua.

Due to the all encompassing mission of Project Nicaragua, there are three distinct divisions of Project Nicaragua.

1. The Division of Research: Headed by the Board of Directors and the undergraduates and is lead by the Dr. Jorge Lazareff.

2. The Division of Outreach: Headed by the undergraduate divisions and guided by the Board of Advisors and the Board of Directors.

3. The Division of Education: Headed by Dr. Lazareff, this division encourages the co-training of physicians and other healthcare professionals here in the United States and in Nicaragua.
